Charity of the Year

Welcome to MyBogle!

Bogle takes the scenic route to the extreme in a challenging 55 mile walk around Greater Manchester so that you can raise money for a good cause close to your heart.

Organised by Manchester RAG as part of the University of Manchester Students' Union, Bogle has been a highlight of Manchester's calendar since 1951 and over the years has seens thousands battle against their wills to overcome the challenge and raise millions of pounds for charity.

MyBogle allows people taking part in the event to share their progress to their friends and family throughout the route. Based on the times it takes them to reach a checkpoint we will estimate their location along the bogle route, they will be able to send messages to their profile for everyone to see and, most importantly, their fundraising link takes pride of place on their profile so you can donate to the cause they're putting themselves through this endurance event to support.

This year Bogle will see 500 people taking their own challenge in 4 levels of difficulty:

  • Bogle Stroll - A 55 mile walk taking between 14 and 25 hours to complete
  • Bogle Ramble - A 26 mile walk starting early in the morning and taking up to 10 hours to complete
  • Bogle Wander - A 12 mile walk, our family event (or jog), a gentle ramble taking about 4 hours to complete
  • Bogle Roll - For those more suited to two wheels, a 78 mile cycle taking about 5-6 hours to complete

I've almost recoverd from the walk now! I had chafed thighs, mega foot blisters and aches and pains! I had no idea it would be so tough at times but I can at least look back and say - 'I did it!'. Off-hand, will have made about £200 but it could be more, if people are feeling generous and give more than they pledged!

That was the hardest thing I have ever done, but we finished in 19 hours 56 mins. Would not have done it without all the lovely people at the checkpoints. If anyone ever tries to make me go to Failsworth again I will give them a piece of my mind! Those 12 miles in the grey pre-dawn were rubbish!

Finished in 18:16. We ran 40.8 miles in 10:45 at a pace of 3.8 mph, Then we slowed to a crawl as my ankle was damaged and Chris' calves were too stiff to carry on. Hence, it took us nearly 8 hours to complete the last 14 miles. If we would have continued at our previous pace, we would have finished the event in 14:30, beating the previous record by 15 minutes.

I couldn't write feeds because it came a time when I had to keep going. I met really nice people, really brave and really patient people.
