Trek the Great Wall of China

China is one of the most ancient countries in the world, steeped in history and constantly changing over 4000 years. Although being one of the great ancient civilisations its history has been full of turmoil and divisions, the greatest remnant of which is the 6,260km long Great Wall of China!

This great barrier has been constructed throughout Chinese history since the fifth Century BC, and next summer could be your chance to take in hundreds of kilometres in a challenging trek along not only the beautifully restored sections of the wall, but also tapping into history along the sections now only know as the ‘Wild Wall’. The majestic remains of old guard towers will guide you through dense tropical forests, alongside grand royal temples and tombs, through the rolling hills of rural China, and to the very top of some of the peaks and ridges that the Wall traverses.

Throughout the trip you will get to taste the wonders of Rural China, try your hand at local music and arts, and share in the great variety of food and cooking along the way. After a challenging but stunning 13 day trip across the historical and political heartland of China there is always the allure of staying on that bit longer; a holiday to finish off the trip of a lifetime. Explore the Forbidden City of Beijing, head south for the World Expo taking place in Shanghai, or Ride the Bullet Train to investigate the famous guards of the royal tombs, the Terracotta Warriors.
