The Children’s Society – Charity of The Year 2012
The most enticing and rewarding part of Bogle is the fundraising. The good people who take part, put in tremendous effort in, to raise hundreds of pounds for a worthy cause they consider close to their heart. Walking the Bogle truly is a labour of love and a remarkably rewarding experience for all those involved.
In recent years a great deal of people have come to us stating that they did not have any particular charity in mind that they wanted to raise the money for, and would ask us for a recommendation. So in response to this we have decided to nominate a Charity of the Year, for Bogle 2012 we have chosen The Children’s Society to fill this role. We highly recommend any participants that are undecided on what charity to raise money for, to consider The Children’s Society. By doing so you are guaranteed to receive additional support from the charity to aid with fundraising and the recognition you deserve for the hard work and effort you have put in to Bogle.
The Children’s Society
The Children’s Society wants to create a society where children and young people are valued, respected and happy.
The Children’s Society, runs over 27 children’s centres in England, works in partnership with 40 local authorities and has 77 programmes up and down the country helping children and young people who are struggling to cope with the pressures of everyday life.
We are committed to helping vulnerable and disadvantaged young people, including safeguarding children in care and young runaways. We give a voice to disabled children, help young refugees to rebuild their lives and provide relief for young carers. Through our campaigns and research, we seek to influence policy and perceptions so that young people have a better chance in life
Make Runaways Safe Campaign www.makerunawayssafe.org.uk
- 100,000 children runaway every year in England
- Over a quarter of them, or 70 each day, are forced out of their homes by their parents or carers.
The Children’s Society wants to help give a safety net to these highly vulnerable children, who are at risk of substance abuse, sexual exploitation and homelessness. We need to protect these children when they are at their most vulnerable.
That is why we launched Make Runaways Safe. Our campaign aims to protect every child who runs away and to create a national safety net of support. We need to ensure that the people in charge of government services and public safety are acting to protect children who run away.
